Description
Brussels Sprouts "Idemar" is a mid-early vegetable variety that can be harvested until late December due to its frost hardiness. This winter vegetable produces round to flat-round sprouts that possess a mild and very aromatic flavour.
Our Tips:
- The development time for Brussels sprouts is approximately 160–170 days.
- Mechanical harvesting is not recommended.
- A good tip is to earth up the plants later in the season.
- To encourage deep root growth, do not water too heavily during the first 2 to 3 weeks.
- In summer, however, sufficient watering is indispensable for the formation of the sprouts.
- Due to high nutrient requirements, apply supplemental fertiliser (e.g., plant purins/liquid manure) once the sprouts begin to form.
- If not enough sprouts are forming, pinch out the top of the plant in September or October.
