Description
The "Rio Grande" plum tomato is a high-yielding variety that performs exceptionally well in sheltered outdoor positions. Its firm, easy-to-slice fruits reach a weight of 125 to 140 grams, making them perfect for sauces and salads alike.
Cultivation Tips: Avoid sowing tomato seeds too early; once they have germinated, move them to a cooler, bright location to ensure sturdy growth. After the "Ice Saints" (the last frost in mid-May), harden the plants off for several days before planting them out. A covered spot or rain shelter is highly recommended to protect against late blight. Additionally, applying a layer of mulch helps retain soil warmth and protects the cold-sensitive roots.
