With their beautifully coloured, double blooms, hollyhocks are a quintessentially British cottage garden staple. Thanks to their enduring flowering period, they provide a magnificent display for many weeks.
Our Tips:
- Sow in seed trays or directly into the open ground
- Cover seeds lightly with soil and press down gently
- Germination temperature: 15°C
- Keep consistently moist during the germination phase
- Once the seed leaves appear, continue to grow on in a bright position
- After four weeks, prick out to 5 x 5 cm spacing
- Plant out from June or July
- Requires a nutrient-rich, well-drained soil
