Description
Sponge gourds are known for producing the loofahs that are used in natural skin care. They are also suitable as natural household sponges. The unripe fruits are also edible and taste similar to zucchini. They can be prepared in a variety of ways.
Loofah plants thrive in a sunny, warm spot. Harvest the fruit once the skin begins to turn brown and dry. Peel the fruits and dry them straight away. Wash the dried sponges thoroughly under running water.
