With its sloping roof and thick walls, the nest box provides perfect protection from rain, wind and frosty temperatures. In summer, ventilation openings ensure that there is no heat build-up. The special needs of the young chicks have also been considered in the design - the roughened inner sides and grooves on the front make it easy for them to climb out of the box.
